Budgeting
Budgeting
Budgeting is required to achieve a good final product.Budget breakdowns are important and must include anything that is going to cost any money, from props to security.
it's also important to include how much these things cost so that the budget can be distributed.
When making a movie it's important to call the people who provide what you need to negotiate the best price.
If money is needed in one place, it usually taken from another place as money can't just be created.
Post Production also costs a lot of money such as editing and colour grading.
Compromising and balancing the budget is very important as no one department is better than another, all are integral in creating a project.
Crowdfunding
The film was called Unsound.
The Kickstarter project was for a feature-length film needs, film festival submission fees, clour grading and more.
They spent 3 weeks developing the concept.
Most successful campaigns run for 30 days.
The figure they decided on was 15,000 USD.
They promoted their project by sharing their campaign on social media, with people he thought would be interested in the project.
The pyramid of marketing structure is at the bottom 90% lurkers, who won't contribute they will just read. 9% are commenters who will share your crowdfunding. 1% will actually contribute.
Enemy Of Man
They were asking for 250,000 USD.
They managed to raise 255,564 USD.
In total, the project had 2,712 backers.
Directed by Vincent Regan which is significant as he has been on previous popular movies such as 300.
The project was also funded by Vincent's own money as well as money from cast members.
The funding was for the production of the film although not enough money was saved for post-production.
It was successful in gaining funding because it boasted a famous cast and previously famous director.
Since the project has been funded, the film is yet to release and the people who pledged are angry.
Kickstarter
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding website where people from all over the world pitch their ideas in a hope that people will fund it. On Kickstarter you can donate money to all sorts of causes from films to food.In the case of film, Kickstarter means that films can generate money for their pre-production. This can be used for all sorts of things from paying for better actors/actresses, set design or even something as simple as food.
Careful, this blog post hasn't got a title!
ReplyDeleteYou have written some good responses here!
For revision, add on a paragraph explaining what Kickstarter actually is and how it can help in pre-production.
